September 2008:
We've compiled highlights from some research projects done by ERAU seniors and graduate students as part of the Observational Astronomy course (Engineering Physics 425). All the images below are based on data taken and reduced by students using the Creekside Observatory 20-inch telescope in the spring semesters of 2007 and 2008.

July 2008:

In memory of Embry Riddle graduate Christopher Rummel, a generous donation has been made to the Embry Riddle Creekside Observatory. This donation will allow the observatory to build a new spectrograph with higher spectral resolution than the older model. Spectroscopic observations have great appeal among the observational astronomy students, with approximately two-thirds of the students selecting spectroscopy projects over other options.

In addition to the spectrograph, the memorial funds allowed the observatory to purchase spectral lamps and power supplies necessary for calibrating the astronomical data taken. The software used for compositing images and building mosaics was also upgraded, giving students access to the latest state-of-the-art software used in observational astronomy.

The observatory team and Embry-Riddle wish to thank Christopher Rummel's family for honoring us with this donation.

June 2008:
The observatory is currently undergoing maintenance and is unavailable for observations. Prof. Charles Bishop is raising the dome approximately 3 feet to allow easier access for those with limited mobility. This project is expected to take a few months.
